A new study suggests that males who say yes to one too many drinks may be in danger of not only dampening their sex lives, but harming their chances of having children as well.

Researchers from India found that men being treated for alcoholism had lower testosterone levels and more sperm abnormalities than non-drinkers. They also had a far higher rate of erectile dysfunction (ED) - 71-percent, versus 7-percent of abstainers.

The study also shows a couple might be in greater risk of having a miscarriage if the male has ten or more drinks during the week of conception.

Researchers conclude in the medical journal Fertility & Sterility

The study included 66 non-smoking men who had sought treatment for alcoholism, along with 30 non-smokers who had never consumed alcohol. The study concludes alcoholic men had a significantly lower sperm count, but more abnormal sperm, as well as lower testosterone levels and changes in other reproductive hormones.

The study also shows women who drink excessive amounts of alcohol are also at a greater risk to impair their reproductive health as well.
