The AIDS Healthcare Foundation is particularly concerned that Viagra, manufactured by Pfizer Inc., has become popular among gay and bisexual men who use methamphetamine, which has been associated with risky sexual behavior and HIV infection, Los Angeles Times reported.
The group will run advertisements in publications in Southern California, New York, San Francisco and South Florida to push for an end to the Viagra marketing campaign.
However, Pfizer Inc., denied the claim that its advertising promotes recreational use of the drug. Pfizer also said that its advertising already states that Viagra does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases.
