New Study Links Human Obesity To A Virus

Researchers from Louisiana State University are now blaming human stem cells for causing obesity in people. A new study found that infection with a virus linked to human obesity increases the fat-cell production thus making them fatter.

FDA Halts Arthritis Gene Therapy Trial After Patient Dies

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has asked a Seattle-based company to halt its gene therapy study after reports that a patient has died.

The FDA has not revealed cause of death or any details about the patient who passed away while a member of the gene therapy trial by Targeted Genetics Corp. However, the FDA has confirmed it is launching an investigation into the health and safety of 28 others involved in the study. The FDA said it was investigating if the gene therapy played any role in the death of the patient, which occurred Tuesday
