A former doctor who lost his license after leading guilty to sexually assaulting a hypnotized patient, is now saying he has a deviant sexual desire, entitling him to disability benefits.

In a civil suit, Alan Richman claims his disability and depression have prevented him from practicing medicine.

He says he should get disability benefits from his insurance company and a waiver from paying the premiums on two life insurance policies.

Richman was sentenced Nov. 10 to ten years probation after pleading guilty to two counts of battery and one count of aggravated battery. Richman was arrested in September 2000 after a woman accused him of hypnotizing and raping her in his office.

He now seeks at least $75,000 in damages from Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company of Milwaukee.

The lawsuit says the company denies Richman's benefits claim and the payment waiver.
